We Went to a DFW Wrestling Show and It Was Amazing!
We go to Dallas events all the time trying to find the best things to do in DFW, and every now and then, something awesome completely catches us off guard, and that’s exactly what happened when we went to a DFW Wrestling show.
It was frickin’ awesome, and fun, fun fun!
The show was a Smash Mouth Wrestling event held at Haltom City Theatre (in Tarrant County) and hosted by the Dallas All-Pro Wrestling Academy. The Academy is a professional wrestling training school that regularly puts on live shows where future wrestling stars can sharpen their skills in front of a crowd.
Themed Events
The events are always themed, which adds to the fun. At Hell Froze Over 2, for instance, a few ice queens made their way into the action. Dun dun dun … the cold never bothered them anyway.
A local wrestling show is niche, rowdy, and extremely memorable. If you end up going (and you love weird, off-the-wall events), it might just be one of the most fun nights out you’ve had in a while.
It’s basically theatre, but with more action. There are heroes and villains and storylines – entrances with bright lights, super loud music, and hilarious poses. There are people getting thrown around the ring. And best of all, you are encouraged to participate!
Participation is Key
And by participate, we mean yell.
Cheer for the wrestler you want to win. Boo the wrestler who is clearly up to no good. Yell funny insults at the “bad guys.” Encourage the good guys to get back up. Get wild with it. Have you ever been to a Renaissance fair where you throw tomatoes at the guy yelling insults at everyone? It’s kinda like that.
The wrestlers know how to rile up a crowd too. One guy comes out talking trash, everyone boos, people yell back, and then another wrestler appears from the wings (with the lights, music and poses), and promises to put them in their place.
The crowd loses it.
The Fight
Then the fight starts. Some of these performances are top tier. Trust!
By the end of the night, there are five or ten people in the ring, good guys versus bad guys, Marvel-style. It’s a choreographed all-out brawl, and then through all the chaos, one person emerges victorious.
To Sum it Up
Is it a little ridiculous? Abbbsolutely!
But, if you want a night where you can laugh, yell, cheer, boo, and fully let loose, add this to your list. It’s such a fun night out. Perfect for a unique date, friend hangout, or for anyone who wants to yell for sport!
One minute you’ll be cheering, the next you’re laughing, and before you know it, you’re really invested in what’s happening in the ring. If you’re anything like us, you’ll have a blast. It’s a chance to step outside your comfort zone and have a surprisingly good time.
