We’ve had Shugs. We’ve had Abby’s Bagels. We were unimpressed. Don’t get us wrong! They weren’t bad by any means, but they definitely weren’t the best bagels in Dallas. That’s why we went on a mission to find the actual best bagels in Dallas, TX. This list rounds up our absolute favorite bagel spots around town — places we’d gladly wake up early for on a Saturday morning. And the winner? Prepare to be surprised!
Quick note: When we say “Best Bagels in Dallas,” we mean DFW. Technically, the best bagel spots aren’t in Dallas proper — they’re tucked away in nearby cities that still fall under the greater Dallas area. It’s drive but trust us, it’s worth it.
Here’s What’s Up Dallas!
Table of Contents:
Dan’s Bagels – Best Flavors

These bagels are baker’s bagels. Dan’s does sourdough-based dough with King Arthur Flour (top-notch if you don’t know) and the entire joint feels like a passion project. They nail all the flavors and the bake is impeccable. Think crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, with just the right amount of tang. One of their best selling flavors is the rosemary salt bagel, and it’s not overhyped. That thing was good! We tried the whole lineup, and not a weak link in sight. They even had crumb cake — which for some reason is a New York bagel shop staple — and it was also superb! Dan’s understood the assignment.
This was actually our #2 pick overall, and on another day, in another mood, it would’ve taken the crown. Dan’s bagels do in fact taste like New York and are worthy of being considered some of the Best Bagels in Dallas.

Brooklyn Bagels – Best Sandwiches

Let us tell you something — Brooklyn Bagels is doing sandwiches right! Whether you’re craving classic bacon egg & cheese or something stacked with lox and capers, they’ve got it. And they don’t skimp on the fillings, either. Every bite was generous, smooth, and SO satisfying. Our favorite is probably the Greenpoint Sandwich with turkey, bacon, colby jack, lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayo. Friggin’ delicious!

Bagel Bar & Coffee – Best Place to Work

We like to mix it up, so we introduced this wildcard, and it did not disappoint! The bagels are solid (very respectable crust, flavor and crumb), but the real magic here is the vibe. Bagel Bar is a fantastic place to catch up with friends, read a book or post up with your laptop and crank out some work. Also, the coffee? Chef’s kiss. Personally, we can’t wait to return!
This place is cozy but modern. The owners are so nice, and with free wifi, you can’t ask for a better daytime hideaway. You’re guaranteed to leave caffeinated and happy.

Bonus: it’s just a few minutes away from Brooklyn Bagels, so if you’re going to be in the area all morning and afternoon, make it a two-stop bagel day.

Boil & Bake Bagels – Best Bagels (Overall Winner!)

Not a lot of people are talking about this place — and that’s criminal, because Boil & Bake has the best bagels in Dallas. Full stop. These bagels are hand-rolled, boiled, baked, and bursting with flavor. They’re so frickin’ fresh, you’d think you were on the East Coast. Which makes sense — because the owner? She’s lived on the East Coast her entire life before moving to North Texas, and has been making bagels for literal decades. It shows.
Even the plain bagels taste like something special. But if you want to treat yourself, go for the French Toast. It’s sweet, and absolutely addictive. We grab some every visit! This place might be flying under the radar now, but mark our words — it’s a hidden gem. And we’re blowing its cover. Read this special Owner Spotlight and see just why these bagels rock.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Annmarie who runs Boil & Bake Bagels
Please tell us a little bit about you and your business, and what do you want people to know about Boil and Bake bagels?
John and I started 32 years ago in Mount Kisco, New York. We have always strived for pure, real, fresh ingredients. We use high-quality flour. We use midget raisins. We use fresh blueberries. All cream cheese and salads have always been made on site. Chicken breasts, real eggs, etc.
There’s no shortcuts.
More importantly, there are no oils in our process. Our bagels are boiled in water and we use a rotating oven. That’s different than the rack oven process and steam method, which is used by most chains, and unfortunately even some local private stores. Their bagels are sprayed with oil which is why ours taste different.
“We’ve been ranked number two in the nation for the last two years.”
We are extremely dedicated. We operate seven days a week. And our motto is ‘Treat every day like the first day.’

“And to treat every customer like family!” Annamarie didn’t say that, but one of her longtime regulars listening in on the chat did.
Summary
Autumn here. I’ve been going to New York at least once a year for the past six years, and every time I go, bagels are on the menu. Great bagels in NYC are a dime a dozen — thank the good Lord, because I love a good bagel! But now? I’m downright ecstatic to say that there are bagels in Dallas that are just as good as the ones in New York. It’s almost unbelievable, but totally true. Long story short, if you haven’t been impressed by the bagels in DFW, drive a little and try again — because trust me, there’s some seriously great bagels out there.
